"Ko Oni" refers to the child of a demon in Japanese folklore. Demons are often depicted as minions of the Enma-Daiou, the king of Hell, who torment the souls of the dead. There are many legends in Japan about demons once inhabiting mountains and other areas. Japanese demons take on various forms, including those of "evil" or "deity," and cannot simply be labeled as villains. However, they commonly share the attributes of being "scary," "powerful," and "superhuman."
